The Hobbits Glen Walk is a 2-mile in-and-back walk along a paved trail in the Columbia pathways system. It begins at (or near) the Hobbits Glen Golf Course and ends in a large playground in the woods. It borders the Clarksville Environmental Area, so is connected to a fairly large expanse of wilderness and feels like it is quite removed from city life.
The trail is shaded almost all of the way, so it's a very pleasant walk in warm weather. Several footbridges cross small streams here and there. There are some elevation changes, with one fairly large hill a little past mid-way. But it's a slow gradual climb so very manageable. The tot lot at the end is very large and shaded, and a great place to relax for a bit.
For fans out there, the Hobbits Glen neighborhood and streets do actually take their names from the Tolkien books. You'll see Wood Elves Way, Willow Bottom, Green Dragon Court, etc. After the walk, you may want to drive around the area and see how many names you recognize.
